Estelle was born on January 14, 1924, rural Earlville, Iowa, to Frank and Hilda (Bockenstedt) Fangman. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville, Iowa, on that same day. Estelle grew up in Delaware and Clayton County. She received her education there and at Mt. St. Francis in Dubuque, Iowa. Estelle was born on January 14, 1924, rural Earlville, Iowa, to Frank and Hilda (Bockenstedt) Fangman. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Earlville, Iowa, on that same day. Estelle grew up in Delaware and Clayton County. She received her education there and at Mt. St. Francis in Dubuque, Iowa. From 1946 to 1954, Estelle was a housekeeper in the Catholic rectories at Sacred Heart, Reilly Ridge, St. Michael's in Garber, Iowa, and St. John's in Delhi, Iowa, for the late Rev. Loras Holmberg. On June 25, 1955, Estelle was united in marriage to Edmund J. Ruff Jr., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo, Iowa. She then moved with him to his family's farm. They were the proud parents of nine children. Edmund died on November 30, 1975. After his death, Estelle continued to farm with her children. Estelle was a member of the St. Maria Goretti Catholic Daughters Council. Survivors include her children, Ruth (Sarkis) Koltookian, Cedar Falls, Gina (Enoch) Hanson, Elgin, Dana (Kenneth) Shoemaker, Frankfort, IL, Ellen (Paul) Dinkels, Jacksonville, FL, Edmund (Barbara) Ruff, Farmersburg, John Ruff (friend Marsha), Monona, Carl Ruff (friend Casey), Stoddard, WI, Paul (Debra) Ruff, Solon; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brothers and sisters, Jim (Emma) Fangman, Allen, TX, Francis (Janet) Fangman, Dubuque, Vincent (Joan) Fangman, Ashland, NE, Bernard (Pat) Fangman, Elkader, Ted (Martha) Fangman, Marion, Gerald (Lorraine) Fangman, Arvada, CO, Mary J. (Roy) Eulberg, Garnavillo, Juanita Loeffelholz, Cudworth, Saskatchewan, Canada, Vernice (John) Knudsen, Marion; brothers and sisters-in-law, Erwin (Eileen) Ruff, McGregor, Paul Ellwanger, Carrollton, TX, and Helen (Ray) Farrell, Elkader. Estelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edmund; her son, Peter, in 1994; sisters-in-law, Alice Ruff Ellwanger and Ester Trenkamp Fangman and brothers-in-law, Cyril Berns and Don Loeffelholz.
