ANNA NAGGATZ RITES MARCH 29 Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9, at the First English Lutheran Church in Sterling, for Anna Naggatz, 83, who passed away March 26, 1978, at the Logan County Hospital in Sterling. Graveside services and interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. She was born June 28, 1895 in Plainview, Nebraska, to Fredrick and Anna Petau Kropp. Her family moved to Amherst in 1907; her father died the next year, leaving her mother with seven young children. She was baptized in infancy and was in the first class to be confirmed in the Holyoke Lutheran Church in 1909. After her marriage to Harry Naggatz on May 26, 1915, in Amherst, they continued farming in the Amherst-Venango community. They moved to Sterling in 1959 when they retired from farming. Mrs. Naggatz taught school for six years and was active in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Amherst and many other community activities. She especially enjoyed her many years of teaching Sunday School. She was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Sterling. She is survived by her husband, Harry Naggatz of Sterling; a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Buchleiter and her husband, Roy, of Sterling; a son, Melvin Naggatz and his wife, Imogene, of Holyoke; three brothers, Fred and Lute Kropp, both of Holyoke and Ed Kropp of Amherst; four grandchildren, Karen, Donald, Gerald and Roger Buchleiter; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother and two grandsons.
