The deceased had suffered with uremic poisoning for several years but was around the house until Sunday when she was compelled to take to her bed. The remains were laid to rest in Linwood cemetery. The deceased was born in Germany September 14, 1841. She came to this country in her youth and in New York was united in marriage to John Eckstein. They have lived in Boone for many years, honored and respected by all who knew them. A few years ago Mr. Ecksten was stricken with paralysis and constantly the deceased and her children have faithfully cared for him. Besides the husband she is survived by five sons and two daughters as follows, John and August of the north part of the county, George, Henry and Chris of this city, and Mrs. Emma Barrett and Mrs. Carrie Mindemann. Eckstein was held on Thursday afternoon, March 28th, from the family residence, 1318 Tama street. The funeral party went to the German Lutheran church where at 2:30 o’clock the last services were held by Rev. Otto Erbe, the pastor. Music was furnished by the German Lutheran quartette consisting of Messrs. John Tingwald, Otto Braklow, Charles Goeppinger and Henry Fick. The children of the German Lutheran school also sang a beautiful selection. The pallbearers were Henry Stemmerman, John Schroeder, William Markman, H.von Krog, John Fick and A. Schaneman. The remains were laid to rest in Linwood cemetery. The following is a brief sketch of the life of the deceased. Mrs. Eckstein, nee Anna Gertrude Kramer, was born in Waltersbrueck, Germany, September 14, 1841. When twenty four years of age she came to this country and settled in New York City. There she was united in marriage to John C. Eckstein. In 1875 the family removed to this city and ever since this has been their home. Besides her invalid husband there are left to mourn the death of Mrs. Eckstein seven children: John, George, August, Chris, Henry, Mrs. William Mindemann and Mrs. Emma Barrett. There are also sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
