May 4, 1922 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Sebastian Walz died at St. Anthony hospital Friday evening at 7 o'clock after being in a serious condition since breaking her hip a week before. Asthma coupled with diabetes was indirectly responsible for her death. Mrs. Walz had been in poor health for the past year and had been under treatment at the hospital at various times. Friday April 21, when engaged in some household duties she became dizzy and stumbled, breaking her hip immediately below the hip joint. She was taken to the St. Anthony hospital and every effort was made to save her life, although from the first it was realized that her condition was extremely critical. Funeral services were held in S.S. Peter and Paul's church Monday morning at 9 o'clock, the requim high mass being read by Rev. A.J. Foerster. Mrs. Walz, who was Miss Anna Hawk, of Forcheim, Bavaria, Germany, was born October 3, 1846. She was married in Germany 49 years ago to Sebastian Walz. They came to America two years later and located in Carroll county. Shortly afterwards they moved to Carroll which has since been their home. Of the seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Walz, two boys died in infancy. The husband, two sons and three daughters survive: Frank Walz, Henry Walz, Mrs. John Lenz, Mrs. Walter Wegner and Miss Carrie Walz. Mrs. Walz was a devout Catholic woman and when in good health took an energetic part in the activities of the church. Her happiness centered around her church, her home and her family. She will be greatly missed in her home and among her many friends.
