January 15, 1941 - Carroll Daily Herald - Miss Carrie Walz, who has spent her entire life in Carroll, passed away in a diabetic coma at the St. Anthony Hospital about 8 o'clock this morning. For a number of years Miss Walz had suffered from a diabetic condition. She had been worse during the past two weeks, and Tuesday noon she was removed from her home to the hospital, where she later went into the coma in which death claimed her. January 15, 1941 - Carroll Daily Herald - Miss Carrie Walz, who has spent her entire life in Carroll, passed away in a diabetic coma at the St. Anthony Hospital about 8 o'clock this morning. For a number of years Miss Walz had suffered from a diabetic condition. She had been worse during the past two weeks, and Tuesday noon she was removed from her home to the hospital, where she later went into the coma in which death claimed her. She was sixty two years old. The body will be taken from the Luft Funeral Home to the home of Miss Walz's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wegner, 108 North Adams Street, Thursday morning to rest until the time of the services, arrangements for which have not yet been completed. Miss Waiz was born in Carroll Oct. 16, 1878, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sebastian Walz, who were early settlers here. After attending parochial schools she assisted in the shoe store of he father, one of Carroll's pioneer merchants. After her mothers death she continued to maintain the family home for her father until he passed away. Later she took an apartment in Miss Katherine Franzwa's residence on Clark Street, which was her present home. A member of SS. Peter and Paul's Church, Miss Walz took an active interest in its various departments. She was a member of the Missionary Society of the parish. She also belonged to Court St. Rose of Lima No. 6, Catholic Daughters of America. Surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Frank Walz, Carroll; Henry J. Walz, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. John Lenz (Cuneunda), and Mrs. Walter Wegner (Veronica), Carroll. Two other brothers, John and Joseph, died in early childhood. Her mother passed away April 28, 1922, and her father, June 9, 1937.
