Description	:	Newport Hoosier State Wednesday, November 4, 1885 Anna Harper was born March 5, 1825, and died October 27, 1885, at her nephew's near her old home, now owned by Anderson Harper, aged 60 years, 7 months, and 22 days. She united with the M.E Church at Salem Helt's Prairie, at about the age of 30 years, and remained a member of that church for nearly 10 or 12 years, or as long as she could conveniently attend the services of that place. Sister Harper continued to lead a consistent Christian life in her quiet way ever since that time. During her illness, which she bore with Christian patience and fortitude, she expressed herself ready to meet death, stating to her sister-in-law, Mrs. Henrietta Harper, that "there is not a shadow nor a doubt between me and God". She leaves 2 sisters and 3 brothers to mourn her loss. Sister Harper made friends wherever she went. She was a devoted sister in the last sickness of her sister, Sophronia Richards, who went before her to a better land just about 3 months ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. Byrd of Tennessee Baptist Church in the presence of a sympathizing and attentive audience.
