Sophronia Richards was born in Helt Township, Vermillion County, IN, April 17, 1835, and died July 27, 1885, her age being 50 years, 3 months, and 10 days. The life of our departed friend ceased to ebb in its gentle easement and returned to God who gave her being. She was interred in the Helt's Prairie Cemetery after her funeral was preached by Rev. Read More	Newport Hoosier State Wednesday, August 5, 1885 Death, with its relentless hand has entered our community and taken from among us a most beloved and respected neighbor. Sophronia Richards was born in Helt Township, Vermillion County, IN, April 17, 1835, and died July 27, 1885, her age being 50 years, 3 months, and 10 days. The life of our departed friend ceased to ebb in its gentle easement and returned to God who gave her being. She was interred in the Helt's Prairie Cemetery after her funeral was preached by Rev. Palmer, a minister of the Baptist Church the day following her death. She leaves a husband and 6 step-children, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and numerous relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Consumption preyed upon her constitution for several long years when at last her frail nature yielded to that power which will, sooner or later knock at the door of every living creature. In spite of all that could be done for her by relatives and friends, her pure spirit passed away to its eternal home.
