SCHWALLER Former Carroll County Woman Is Laid to Rest in Catholic Cemetery at Odebolt. The following obituary of Mrs. H. B. Schwaller, formerlly of Carroll county, appeared in the Odebolt Chronicle: The last sad rites in memory of Mrs. H. B. Schwaller, whose sudden death was mentioned in last week's issue of this newspaper, were held at 10 o'clock Friday morning at the St. Martin's church, the sermon conducted by the Pastor, Rev. A. G. Schaefer. The loved body of wife and mother was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery, the six oldest sons, Henry, Joseph, Edward, William, Leonard and Albert, bearing her to the last resting place in the Catholic cemetery. As was noted last week, the health of Mrs. Schwaller has been failing for several months, although but few realized the serious condition she was in. Everything that it was possible to do in the effort to give her relief was done, Mr. Schwaller obtaining the best medical advice, but all to no avail. Hoping that a change of climate might prove beneficial, he started with her to Carlsbad, N. M., to the home of her sister, leaving here on Friday. When they arrived in Wichita, Kas., she became so much worse that it was deemed best to take her to a hospital, and she went to St. Francis hospital, where she passed away at 2:25 o'clock Tuesday morning, November 14. Anna Helena Schmitz was born at Homerich, Germany, October 2, 1868, and had recently passed her 54th birthday. When she was 11 years of age, she came with her parents to this county, locating at Roselle, Carroll county, this state, where she grew to womanhood. October 30, 1891, she was united in marriage to Henry B. Schwaller. They established their home in Roselle, and resided there until eight years ago, when they came to Odebolt, buying one of the Cook famrs in Cook township, where they have since resided. Mrs. Schwaller was a woman whom to know was to admire and esteem. She was always pleasant and courteous with her friends, generous and sympathetic for those in trouble or need, and to her family, the faithful and true wife and helpmate, and the wife and loving mother. When two of her sons were called to service in the late war, she gave them loyally and unselfishly to their county's service. Reared in the Catholic faith, Mrs. Schwaller was a faithful and consistent member of St. Martin's church, the Christian Mother's society, and the Daughters of America. Besides the husband and companion of more than 31 years, there are left seven sons and three daughters namely: Henry, Joseph, Edward, William, Leonard, Albert and Harry, Helen, Agnes and Alma; one grandchild, Joseph Bernard Schwaller; three daughter-in-laws, the wives of Henry, Joseph and Edward; one brother, W. B. Schmitz, of Milford; two half-brothers, Peter Bellinghausen, of Halbur, and William Bellinghausen, of Montrose, Mo., and one half-sister, Mrs. William L. Walterscheld, of Carlsbad, N. M.
