Description	:	ANNA LAURA GOECKE Anna Laura Goecke, 67, of Audubon died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Carroll Manor. Mass of the Christian burial was held this morning, Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Audubon with the Rev. Wayne Gubbells presiding. Burial was in Harrison Township Cemetery southeast of May City. A daughter of John Christofer and Laura (Brown) Strieker, she was born Aug. 10, 1937, at her parents' home in Osceola County near May City. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church near her parents' home. She attended rural school near Harris then helped on the family farm. She was employed at Berkley Inc. in Spirit Lake. Burial was in Harrison Township Cemetery southeast of May City. A daughter of John Christofer and Laura (Brown) Strieker, she was born Aug. 10, 1937, at her parents' home in Osceola County near May City. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran church near her parents' home. She attended rural school near Harris then helped on the family farm. She was employed at Berkley Inc. in Spirit Lake. She and Harold J. Fritz were married March 28, 1962, at Sioux Falls, S.D. They lived in Spirit Lake. Mr. Fritz died Feb. 26,1966. She and Melvin Goecke were married in February 1967 at Spirit Lake. They resided in Carroll a short time then moved to a farm east of Audubon. They lived on and operated the farm until they moved into Audubon in spring 1988. After moving to town, Mrs. Goecke worked in the kitchen at Darrell's Place in Hamlin until retiring in 2000. Mrs. Goecke enjoyed being a homemaker and raising a family. Following an accident and a lengthy recovery at the On With Life Rehabilitation Center in Ankeny, she moved to Carroll Manor. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed being with her family and socializing with her many friends. Survivors include her husband, Melvin, of Audubon; six children: Alan Goecke and his wife, Kathy, of Hiawatha, Karla Goecke of Raleigh, N.C., Peggy Goecke of Carroll, Doug Goecke and his wife, Toni, of Carroll, Jim Goecke and his wife, Kim, of Audubon and Laura Spies of Ames and her fiance, Dan Miller, of Maxwell; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Bob McLean, and his wife, Rita, of Watsonville, Calif.; a sister- in-law, Val Brown, of New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Goecke was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold; a brother, Donald Kenneth "O.K." Brown; and a son-in-law, Rick Spies.
