Read More	Excerpts from obituary: Anna Louise Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nelson, was born Jan. 5, 1876, in Denmark, Europe and died at Lake City, Iowa, Jan. 28, 1936, at the age of 60 years and 23 days. She came to this country alone at the age of 15 years and made her home with her brother in Lake City and sister in Lohrville, Iowa for several years. July 3, 1893, she was united in marriage with William O. Higgins, who passed away December 19, 1925. To this union eleven children were born. Minnie May and a baby and Warren preceded their mother in death. Mrs. Higgins was confirmed in the Danish Lutheran church in Denmark, and later placed her membership in the Presbyterian church in Lake City. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Higgins moved to the present home in Lake City where the remainder of their lives was spent. Mrs. Higgins had been in failing health for about twenty years, and had been confined to her bed the last three years of her life. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Mrs. Cleo Hamilton, George, Lee, Jack, Dick, Vernon, Donald, and Dorothy, all of Lake City; four grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, Chris Nelson of Rockwell City, Martin Nelson of Arlington, So. Dakota, Fred Nelson of Denmark, and Mrs. Martin Christensen of Stanley, North Dakota; other relatives and friends. Mrs. Higgins was known and loved by many. She was a hand of helpfulness to her family and many about her. She often said that she was always glad when she could help others. Many will remember her kindness. The funeral service was held at the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Roy B. Weakland of the Church of Christ officiating. The body was placed at rest in Lake City cemetery.
