Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Custer County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Francis and Irene (Godsey) Nolan of Buffalo Gap. Judy was a graduate of Black Hills State College and continued her life-long love of learning by attending University of Montana and South Dakota State University for graduate courses. She taught elementary school in Rapid City and Belle Fourche for 34 years, usually second grade but sometimes first. Read More	SIOUX FALLS \| Anna Lucille "Judy" Gensler passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls. Born Jan. 2, 1921, in Custer County, she was the daughter of the late Walter Francis and Irene (Godsey) Nolan of Buffalo Gap. Judy was a graduate of Black Hills State College and continued her life-long love of learning by attending University of Montana and South Dakota State University for graduate courses. She taught elementary school in Rapid City and Belle Fourche for 34 years, usually second grade but sometimes first. She maintained excellent standards in her classrooms and earned the highest respect and affection of her hundreds of students and their parents. She was often a mentor for younger teachers to whom she passed on her years of experience and wisdom. Judy was a member of the South Dakota Retired Teachers Association and had been active in South Dakota Education Association and PEO for many years. A committed Christian, she was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal). As a resident of the Dow Rummel Village community since 1993, she participated in many activities, worked as an evening and weekend receptionist until she was 89 years old, and volunteered to establish and manage its library. She was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, Jim and Robert Nolan; her sister, Mary Mack; and by husbands, John Bartholomew, Doyle Ream and Earl Gensler. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. CDT Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the Dow Rummel Village Chapel in Sioux Falls.
