Interment will be in the Masoleum at Calvary cemetery. Annie O'Connell was born October 16, 1867 in Oto, Woodbury County, Iowa, to William George O'Connell and Elizabeth Sullivan O'Connell. Josephine, Anna Ellen and Mary Elizabeth. Mary Elizabeth O'Connell Taylor was my Grandmother, from Bonesteel, Gregory County, SD. A son Jeffery O'Connell was also born to them. Anna married Henry Gruber Feb 20, 1900 in Oto, Woodbury County, Iowa, St. Mary's Church. William Aloysius, Rose Elizabeth, and Margaret Gruber were born to them. They were farmers. In April 1940, the 1940 Federal Census, they were living in Plymouth Township, Section 24, Woodbury Co., Iowa. I remember my parents, Bruce and Gladys Taylor, spoke often of my father's aunts and uncle; Annie O'Connell Gruber, Josie O'Connell Green, Jeffery O'Connell. Ellen O'Connell was born in 1868 and died Feb 25, 1896 at 28 years of age. She died at the home of her parents in Oto Township, of quick consumption at 6 p.m. She was the second of five children of Mr. & Mrs Wm O'Connell. She was born and raised in the home where she died. She was a school teacher. Her funeral was held at the Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Feb 28, 1896. Funeral services were conducted by Father O'Brien, of Anthen, Iowa. She is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, next to her parents. Ellen never married and had no children. My grandmother spoke of her less than her other siblings. Anna (Annie) Gruber died Dec. 16, 1945.
