Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were married March 24, 1892 at Onawa, Iowa, her maiden name being Miss Mary O'Connell and she was engaged in school teaching. His home was near Pierson, Iowa. They made their home on a farm one and a half miles southwest of Pierson where they remained for 12 years. When the Rosebud country opened up for settlement in 1904, they came to Gregory County and bought a farm a half mile west of Bonesteel where Mr. Taylor engaged raising shorthorn cattle. He took pride in his work and was a regular exhibitor in the Gregory Co. fair winning 9 cups and many ribbons for outstanding livestock. His sons Paul and Walter were associated with their father. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor retired from the farm in 1920 and moved into Bonesteel, to spend their remaining years. He enjoyed tree and vegetable gardening (the latter Mr. Taylor said has not been so enjoyable) the past dry years. She does her housework and hobby of quilt making. Mr. Taylor will be 72 on April 4th and she will be 70 on Oct 17th, and both enjoy good health. They have six children namely, Mrs. Edna Vondrak of Sioux city, Ia, Ray of Rapid City, Mrs Nellie Bailey, of Bonesteel, Walter, Paul, and Bruce of Bonesteel. All were present except the Vondrak and Ray Taylor families. Asked how two young people could get along, for 50 years, Mrs. Taylor replied, "Of course differences come but after so long, we just drop it. Tr. Taylor replied with a grin. During their residence in this community both took active parts in the community civic affairs. Mr. Taylor being the first clerk of Pleasant Valley township, a member of the school board, city assessor and councilman and director of the Gregory County Fair Board.
