Her death occurred about five o'clock that morning at the Richmond hospital at Fremont, and followed an illness of six months duration. In seeking relief from her ailment, Mrs. Luther had spend some time in Colorado. No relief being afforded she was brought back to Nebraska and about three weeks ago entered the Richmond hospital. But all of this was of no avail and she peacefully entered into the sleep that knows no awakening on July 22, 1928, at the age of 56 years, 5 months and 17 days. Miss Anna Borcherding, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Borcherding, was born on February 5, 1872 in St. Louis County, Missouri. When a girl of fourteen she came with the family to Nebraska and settled on a farm in the Fontanelle neighborhood. There on June 23, 1892, she was united in marriage to Martin C. Luther, and had since made her home on the farm northeast of Hooper. She was a woman highly respected by friends and neighbors, a loving and devoted wife and mother, and her presence in the home and community will be greatly missed. Besides the sorrowing husband, her loss is mourned by seven children. The surviving children are: Mrs. Robert Forsberg, Henry, Ed and Laura of Hooper, Mrs. Henry Johnson and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Fremont, and Fred of Winslow, and these with the father have the deep sympathy of the community in their hour of sorrow. Other surviving relatives are her aged mother, Mrs. Chris Borcherding of Arlington; three sisters, Mrs. Alfred Hoganson of Uehling, Mrs. Gus Meierhenry of Arlington and Mrs. Louis Krohn of Sioux Falls, S. D.; eight brothers, Will Borcherding of Orchard, Fred, Henry, August and Martin Borcherding of Fremont, Julius Borcherding of Winslow, Herman Borcherding of Hooper and Eddie Borcherding of Craig, and nine grandchildren. Her funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, with services at the home at one o'clock and at Grace Lutheran church in Hooper at two o'clock, the pastor, Dr. R. W. Livers conducting them. They were largely attended and this evinced the high respect in which she was held by her friends. Interment was made in the Hooper cemetery.
