IN 1873 she came over to America with her parents making their home in Illinois until 1881. The family then moved to Nebraska and settled at the West Blue. Read More	Mrs. Anna Margaretha Johanna Rethmeier, nee Beenders, was born on April 2nd, 1865, near Norden, Germany, where she received Holy Baptism about one week later. IN 1873 she came over to America with her parents making their home in Illinois until 1881. The family then moved to Nebraska and settled at the West Blue. On the 21st of March 1880, the departed was confirmed at the Evangelical Lutheran Trinity church in Benson, Ill. At the home of Mr. H. Kemper she was united in marriage to Mr. Franz Heinrich Christoph Rethmeier of Rhine, Lippe Detmold Germany, on the 13th day of October, 1882. This union was blessed with eight children, one of whom, Mathilda, died at the age of two years, October 12, 1903. Her husband preceded her in death nine years ago, December 13, 1914. For over thirty-two years they were granted the happiness of married life and God's blessings rested upon them. They joined the West Blue Evangelical Friedens Church, which Mrs. Rethmeier before her marriage had served as a faithful Sunday school teacher, and later as a member of the Ladies' Aid Society. Hardly one of her relatives and friends thought that she would not live to see the New Year. While taking treatments she often remarked, when asked, that the condition of her health was quite satisfactory, even improving during the last months. On Friday of last week, before Christmas, she suffered and attack of pneumonia and the physician also discovered diabetes, a disease which so often goes unnoticed by the patient for a long time. She was sick in bed only five days. Without a struggle she passed away quietly on Wednesday, December 26th, 3:10 p.m. in the presenceof her brother, Mr. W. K. Beenders and his wife, all her children and their respective husbands, and also the pastor. About one hour before her departure she was still able to fold her hands to follow the prayer offered by the pastor. This silent, solemn moment of kneeling and praying at Grandmother Rethmeier's death bed will live as a sacred memory in the hearts of all those present. The pains of bereavement were severely felt by all children and relatives, when the anxiously awaited moment came in which the soul of a loving mother was called to the higher life. Her age was fifty-eight years, eight months, and twenty-four days. May the God of all comfort, comfort the sorrowing ones in their bereavement. Mrs. Rethmeier is survived by seven children, three sons and four daughters, Mr. Fred Rethmeier, Mr. John Rethmeier, Mr. Edward Rethmeier, Miss Marg. Rethmeier of Crete, Nebr.; Mrs. Etta Weilage of Dorchester Nebr.; Mrs. Ella Gausman, Mrs. Anna Gausman of Milford, Nebr.; one brother, Mr. W. K. Beenders of Crete, Nebr.; and one sister, Mrs. Lambert Redelfs of Bruning, Nebr.; also twenty-one grandchildren. Five grandchildren preceded her in death, also two sisters, and four brothers. May she rest in peace. Funeral services were held at the house at 1 P.M., and the West Blue Evangelical church at 2 P.M., Saturday, December 29th. The services were largely attended.
