The funeral of Mrs. Jno. Neuerburg whose death of cerebral hemorrhage and paralysis Thursday forenoon, February 15th, 1906, was briefly chronicled by the Times, took place Monday at 10 o'clock from SS. Peter and Paul's church. The attendance of friends and neighbors from near and far was large. The departed was one of those thoroughly Christian women who knew only devotion and duty towards God and man and was admired and loved for her virtures and charitable disposition. After suffering in resignation through her last illness of eight weeks, earth's light fadeing from her mortal vision, her hope in her Redeemer lit her way until the curtain lifted for her to view the everlasting dawn. Anna Maria Melur was born at Idenheim, Regh, Trier, Rhine province, Germany, Sept. 8, 1833. As an orphan she came to the state of Ohio, later to Winneshiek county, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John Neuerburg at Festina, Iowa, June 27, 1858. Of this union were born 10 children, of whom the following survive: Henry Neuerburg, of this city; Katie, wife of Michael Herman, Blair, Neb.; Frank and John Neuerburg, of Perry, Okla.; Mary, sister Everista, stationed at St. Francis hospital, La Crosse, Wis.; Anna, sister Natalia, stationed at Marathon, Wis., and Miss Frances Neuerburg, who has been the tender nurse of her mother's declining years. Those who preceded her in the eternal life were: Maggie, wife of Jno. Daiker, who died two years ago; Lizzie, who died 19 years ago, and Math, who died 17 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Neuerburg came to Carroll county in 1875, purchasing the farm southwest of this city where they lived until removing to this city in 1888. Of the children there were present at the funeral, Mrs. M. Herman, son Will and daughter, Maggie, also John Neuerburg and son, of Perry, Okla., aforesaid.
