The former Anna Marie Bauer, daughter of Henry and Katherine Lebsack Bauer, she was born at Hastings July 25, 1888 and received her education in the Hastings public schools. After her graduation she worked in her father's grocery as bookkeeper and clerk. She was married to Conrad C. Kessler on Jan. 21, 1916 in Hastings. Since their marriage they have resided in Columbus. Mrs. Kessler was a member of the Federated church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Union Pacific Old Timers Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Smoots, jr., of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. W.J. (Janice) Wishon of Kansas City, Mo; three sisters, Mrs. H.F. McCulla of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. A.B. Gorman of Lincoln and Mrs. G.H. Schiefelbein of Hastings; two brothers, Joe and Fred Bauer of Hastings; and three grandchildren, Sandra and Tom Wishon and Jimmy Smoots. Her parents and one brother, George Bauer, preceded her in death.
