The funeral was Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fred Rosin officiating. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery. Anna Marie Engelmann was born in Logan Township, Hand County, on October 24, 1896, to Weert and Lena (Schultz) Engelmann. Anna lived on the farm until 1919 when she moved to Miller with her parents. She was employed at J.W. Johnson's Grocery and Dry Goods Store, at Haugen's Grocery and J.C. Penneys. In 1945 she transferred to the Penney's store in Denver where she lived and worked until 1959. She returned to rural Wessington to be nanny for her grand-niece, Russ Ann. In 1972, she moved to Miller. She moved to Prairie Living Center in April of 1988. Anna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Women of the ELCA, Bluegrass Barracks Auxiliary, Hebron Rebekah Lodge #18, Eastern Star, Justa Club and the Miller Senior citizens. Anna's eyes were donated to the Lions Eye Bank. Anna is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Lena) Eschenbaum and Mrs. Tollef (Etta) Wangsness, both of Miller; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Weert (Jeri) Engelmann of Green Bay, WI; one brother-in-law, Carl Winsell of Wessington; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; Robert, Henry and Weert; and three sisters; Mrs. Bert (Gertie) Hammill of San Diego, CA, Mrs. Carl (Elsie) Winsell of Wessington and Ida (who died in early childhood). Pallbearers were Robert Eschenbaum, Duane Eschenbaum, Wendell Roeber, Clayton Sisk, Orley Wangsness and LeRoy Wangsness. Visitation was Sunday afternoon and evening, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Reck Funeral Home.
