Miller, age 90 of Bismarck, formerly of Raleigh, passed away early Saturday morning, October 6, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Belfield, ND. Anna Marie Kahl Miller was born on March 2, 1917 at their homestead southwest of Shields, ND to Philip and Margaret (Schwalick) Kahl. She was the second of eight children and attended Wade School District at the Pollit School. She married Peter E. Miller on October 20, 1936 at St. Gabriel Church in Shields. After their marriage they moved to the farm 3 miles south of Raleigh where they lived until 1949, when they moved their house into Raleigh. She worked at the post office and grocery store at Raleigh. She also assisted her daughter at the Dogtooth Bar and Grill as needed. She continued to live in Raleigh until October 2002, when she moved to the Edgewood Vista in Bismarck. Anna enjoyed quilting, dancing, gardening, crafting, canning and cooking. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family – they all loved her homemade buns and German foods. Anna was a member of Raleigh Homemakers for 30 years and St. Theresa Church Circle. Anna will always be missed by her 2 daughters and 1 son-in-law, Carolyn and Gene Wells, Carson, ND; Emma Dubois, Thayer, IL; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Ken and Jackie Miller, Bismarck, ND; Wilbert "Binky" and Eunice Miller, Belfield, ND; Paul Miller, Raleigh, ND; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Pauline Draskovic, Ipswich, SD; Angie Bleven, Van Nuys, CA; 1 sister-in-law, Monica Kahl, Modesto, CA; and her special friend, Phyllis Lentz. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Peter E., who died February 14, 1997, her parents, one son-in-law, James Dubois, one daughter-in-law, Janice Miller, one grandchild, Kathy Wells, two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Flora and Joe Dirk, Laura and John Deichert, John Draskovic, three brothers, Vincent, Melchoir, Reinhart. The Rosary Service for Anna will be held followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, October 9, at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church at Raleigh. Fr Todd Kreitinger will officiate with burial in St. Gertrude's Catholic Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers are Ken Miller, Wilbert "Binky" Miller, Paul Miller, Craig Wells, Bob Dubois, and Keith Miller.
