It was originally published on Friday, 22 August 1890. Any information in brackets or notes at the end are my own explanations. It reads as follows: Death Notice [Anna Stangl] On the 15th of August, at about 9:30 in the morning, which was the holiday of the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin, Anna Stangl, wife of Jos. Stangl Sr., passed away after having received Last Rights. She had reached the advanced age of 78 years, 10 months, and 4 days, and she died of cholera morbus [an outdated medical term meaning roughly gastroenteritis] following an illness of only 4 days. Anna Stangle (nee Meisl) was born on 11 October 1811 in Bruck, in the Oberpfalz [Upper Palitinate] near Regensburg in Bavaria. When she was just 2 years old, her dear mother passed away. When she later attended school, she had as a classmate the Rev. Bishop Krantbauer of Green Bay, Wisconsin, who died a few years ago. On 13 June 1845 she was joined in marriage to Jos. Stangl by Rev. Father Engele in Bremen. Rev. Engele performed 45 marriages on that day. After the wedding they traveled immediately to America and settled initially in Saint Louis, where they remained for 5 months. They then moved to Delaware County, Iowa, and in the spring of 1846 they settled 5 miles southwest of New Vienna. In 1886 they left that county and came to Templeton [Carroll County], where they had a fine home. The deceased leaves behind a grieving spouse and 6 grown children. One child predeceased her 4 years ago. During our last missionary meeting, she was inducted into the Third Order of Saint Francis, to which she remained true until her death. The burial took place Saturday, the 16th of August, at 10:30 in the morning at the Heart of Jesus Cemetery [in Templeton], with a large number of people in attendance. May she rest in peace.
