This world was blessed with her birth on July 20, 1939, to her loving parents Gerald and Blanche Sampson in Bonaparte, Iowa. She was united in marriage with William A. Carter in 1958, and they built a foundation of love for a family that would continue to grow throughout her life. Ann and Will were married until his death in 1992. Ann lived in Keokuk until her retirement in 1994. She was blessed to find true love for a second time in her life and was united in marriage with her second husband, Harry Breitenbucher, in 1996. Ann and Will had three children, Raymond (Annette) Carter in Evergreen, Colorado, Cynthia (Garold) Picton in Keokuk, and Judith (Charles) Spoores in Keokuk. Throughout her life she loved 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews. In her death, she is reunited with both of her parents, both husbands, four brothers, and two sisters. Anna Maire Carter was a woman who made friends everywhere she went. This included lifelong friends in Keokuk and surrounding areas, as well as many friends in Alamo, Texas, who became like a second family to her for the 25 years she lived there. She loved her family deeply and unconditionally and always approached her family with a "no nonsense" kind of truth in everything. Ann enjoyed coming back to Iowa to visit family most every summer, while living in Texas, and spending time with friends at the South Side Boat Club when she was visiting. She was always the life of the party with an undying love of socializing, and had a contagious laugh and smile. She took great pride in her independence and taking care of herself, and she did so successfully up until the last two weeks of her life.
