Anna Mary ended her battle with thyroid cancer when she passed away on January 4, 2014, at the Hartington Nursing Center, Hartington, Nebraska. On May 8, 1957, she was married to Edwin "ED" Filips at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Helena, Nebraska. The couple made their home for three years on a farm near Crofton, Nebraska, before moving to Spencer, Nebraska in 1961, where Anna Mary and Ed farmed, raised their family, celebrated their faith and enjoyed their life. Anna Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Spencer, Nebraska and was a long-time choir member, Altar Society member, and enjoyed various women's and neighborhood clubs. Taking care of her family and home were Anna Mary's passion. She loved to garden, raise flowers, and was known as the neighborhood green thumb. Anna Mary also loved to visit family and friends. She was a devoted wife, a dedicated farming partner, and a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Anna Mary is survived by: husband of 56 years, Edwin "Ed" Filips of Spencer, Nebraska; children and their spouses, Roger and Ann Filips of Hartington, Nebraska, Art and Julie Filips of Maryville, Missouri, Paul and Cindy Filips of Spencer, Nebraska and Frank and Monique Filips of Torrance, California; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene Wortmann of Hartington, Nebraska and Mildred Sternhagen of Tabor, South Dakota and brother, Victor Klug of Hartington, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Anna Mary was preceded in death by: parents; brothers, infants, Marcus, Gerald and Edwin Klug and then Edward, Roman and Andy Klug. Mass of Christian Burial for Anna Mary J. Filips, ws on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Spencer, Nebraska with the Reverend Doug Scheinost Celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Spencer, Nebraska.
