Description	:	Anna Mary Hlas, age 96, of Clutier, died on Sunday, May 14, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids under the care of Hospice of Mercy. Anna Mary Hlas was born on August 8, 1909, in Tama County, the daughter of Anton and Anna Zmolek Kucera. She received her education thru the 8 th grade at the Howard #6 country school. On January 20, 1931, she was united in marriage to Emil Joseph Hlas in rural Clutier. They rented farms in the Clutier area until 1941, when they purchased a farm in Howard Township. They retired into Clutier in 1971. Emil... Read More	Anna Mary Hlas, age 96, of Clutier, died on Sunday, May 14, 2006 in Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids under the care of Hospice of Mercy. Anna Mary Hlas was born on August 8, 1909, in Tama County, the daughter of Anton and Anna Zmolek Kucera. She received her education thru the 8 th grade at the Howard #6 country school. On January 20, 1931, she was united in marriage to Emil Joseph Hlas in rural Clutier. They rented farms in the Clutier area until 1941, when they purchased a farm in Howard Township. They retired into Clutier in 1971. Emil died in 1997. In January of 2004, Anna entered Sunrise Hill Care Center in Traer. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clutier where she served on the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Clutier K.D. Lodge, No. 130. Anna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated to her family and her Catholic faith. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, flowers and baking, which she generously shared with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Emil; one daughter, Sister Rita in 1986; two sons, Philip Hlas in 1983, and Frankie Hlas in 1951; her parents; and four brothers, Philip, Anton, Joseph and Frank Kucera. Survivors include four sons, Emil V. (Julie) Hlas of Goodyear, AZ, Stanley J. (Jeanne) Hlas of Cedar Rapids, Albin A. (Arlene) Hlas of Puyallup, WA and Mark J. (Ruth) Hlas of Round Rock, TX; twenty grandchildren; and three sisters, Frances (Celestine) Wobeter of Toledo, Mary Kucera of Tama, and Genevieve Kucera of Clutier.
