Description	:	January, 1900. Obit from old scrapbook. DIED. SHAWVER. Mary Shawver was born near Jefferson, Carroll county, Ohio, August 28, 1816. At the age of 18 she united with the Lutheran church, of which she continued a faithful member until death. She was married to Elias Shawber September 26, 1843, and with came to Tipton, Iowa, in the year 1851. Later they removed to Cedar Bluff where they conducted a store until 1863. DIED. SHAWVER. Mary Shawver was born near Jefferson, Carroll county, Ohio, August 28, 1816. At the age of 18 she united with the Lutheran church, of which she continued a faithful member until death. She was married to Elias Shawber September 26, 1843, and with came to Tipton, Iowa, in the year 1851. Later they removed to Cedar Bluff where they conducted a store until 1863. After that time they resided one mile east of Cedar Bluff. she was the mother of three children--two dying in infancy. Being widowed in 1867 she spent the remainder of her life at the home of her son, Milton Shawber, caring for his children with a mother's tenderness. During her illness she bore her sufferings cheerfully and was kind and considerate to those about her. she passed from this life Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 1900, aged 83 years, 4 months and 16 days. she leaves three brothers, one son, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren to mourn her loss. The funeral was conducted from the Cedar Bluff church yesterday, Rev. Hunsicker, of Tipton, preaching the sermon.
