Frost [sic], former Ottumwa assistant fire chief. They were married in Ottumwa, June 10, 1903. He preceded her in death May 16, 1939. The daughter of Robert and Margaret Eslinger Mendel, she was born June 6, 1879, in Ottumwa. She was a member of the Finley Avenue Baptist church, Fireman's auxiliary, Spanish American War Veteran's auxiliary, and Royal Neighbors lodge No. 1014. Surviving are a son, Chief Warrant Officer Robert Frost, Jr. of the U.S. army, Chester, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Phipps of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson funeral chapel. The Rev. William D. Scott, pastor of the Finley Avenue Baptist church, and the Rev. Paul M. Hann, D.D., pastor of the First Methodist church, will be in charge. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edwin Anderson, Marley McClure, George Krafka, Henry Cudworth, John Burke, Jr., and Bernie Houk. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. A memorial fund has been established by the family payable to the Good Samaritan home.
