She came to this country at the age of fourteen years, making her home with a sister near Platte Center. On Sept. 11, 1900, she was united in marriage to John W. Davis at Columbus, Nebr. They made their home on a farm northwest of Monroe until the autumn of 1930 when they moved to Genoa to reside. She is survived by her devoted husband and seven children: Mrs. Jake Ditter, Jr., of Monroe, Miss Viola Davis of Lynden, Wash., Mrs. Lloyd Whitlow of Genoa, Ernest, Gladys, Noble, and June at home, a sister, Mrs. Helen Bruns of Lynden, Wash. One son, Edward, died in infancy. Also surviving are four stepchildren to whom she was a most loving and self-sacrificing mother. They are: Mrs. Charles Taylor and Mrs. Martin Mohr of Monroe, John W. Davis, Jr. of Fullerton and Mrs. William Moore of Omaha. One step-son Chrles died in 1931. Hers was a truly beautiful and sincere Christian character. She devoted her whole life to an unselfish endeavor to make brighter and happier, not only the lives of her own loved ones, but all with whom she came in contact. Her loving ministrations to those in trouble or sorrow is a monument to her memory that Time can never efface. Funeral services were conducted last Thursday afternoon at the Congregational Church in Genoa with Rev. Hinds, the pastor, officiating. The pallbearers were: Michael and William Nansel of Monroe, Charles Kerr of Columbus, and R. H. A. Reed, Wesley Winnel, and C. E. Pearson of Genoa. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery. In Memoriam, by Mrs. Charles Kerr of Columbus, a close friend God called our darling loved one Think not – she did not falter Away from our embrace, At leaving loved ones here And beckoned her to Heaven For whom she joyfully toiled To meet him face to face To comfort, aid, and cheer. So, ever faithful to her trust But her Savior's blessed summons With heart so brave and true She did willingly obey She gently smiled upon us Trusting her beloved will follow And bid us all adieu, When he calls them some sweet day To follow her dear Savior And so we say, Farewell dear one By loving faith assured Until we too may come That holy joys await her Your lovely life the beacon As promised in His word.
