Read More	NEWPAPER OBITUARY-NEVADA JOURNAL-MARCH 22 1922 ONE OF NEVADA'S FINEST WOMEN IS CALLED BY DEATH: Resident of This City For Over Fifty Years Mrs D. E. Sutherland, resident of Nevada for over fifty years, died Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs P.C. Bump, of Iowa Falls, wehre she had been for several months. She had been in poor health for some time and her eighty years made it almost impossible for her to "come back." Mrs Sutherland was well and very favorably known in Nevada, having lived on a farm south of town for forth-three years and in the city for nine years. A number of the children live in or near Nevada with their families and the sympathy of the community is with them at this time. Mrs Sutherland was a character of which too much good cannot be said. Her life, sweet and complete, was rounded out in a full Christian manner, and the love of her God and of mankind fairly shone from the clear, true eyes. Her face was one which typified her pure heart and her example will forever live with the relatives and friends who now mourn her loss. Ann Rebecca Cook was born in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, Januray 28 1842. After the War, the family move to Illinois and a few years later Miss Ann came to Iowa where she taught school a short while in Story county. On February 4, 1869, she married David E Sutherland. They settled on a farm south of Nevada, where they lived for forty-three years. Here the eight children were born and raised. Nine years ago Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland retired from the farm and made their residence in the city of Nevada. Mr Sutherland died here January 19, 1918. At the age of seventeen Mrs. Sutherland was converted and at the time of her death was a member of the Methodist Church of Nevada from which the funeral services were held this afternoon. Rev. R.M. Shipman, her pastor conducted the services as he did also those of her husband and her sister, Mrs M.C. Fetterhoff who died last May. Her body was laid to rest at the side of that of her husband in the Nevada cemetery. The eight children are left to mourn her death: Frank C. of Nevada, Mr P.C. Bump, of Iowa Falls; A.J., of Whittier, Calif.; Charles G of Nevada; Mrs W.H. Kirkendall, of Salem, S.D. (two latter being twins) Bruce, of Nevada; Mrs C.B. Smith of Ceder Falls adn Mrs P.E. Posegate, of Nevada. All of these were present at the funeral today except A.J. Sutherland, of Whittier, Calif.. Mrs Sutherland leaves also a sister, Mrs Jennie Elker, of Quincy, Pa., who is at present in Washington D.C. and was unable to be here. Twenty-six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren join the other in honoring the grand old lady and with their grief comes the possibilty of a perfect lift for them if they but follow in her foot-steps.
