Description	:	Anna's first husband was James O'Kelly Way, whom she married February 8, 1858 in Chatham County, North Carolina. They had four children together: 1) Cora Belle Way, born Aug. 14, 1859 in Council Grove, Morris County, Kansas; 2) Florence Way, born Sep 24, 1861; 3)General Grant "Grant" Way, born May 26, 1864; and 4) Mollie Jane Way, born Nov. 4, 1866. Anna Semira Pickett married to Shubal Jefferson Fowler Way on May 19th, 1869 at Emporia, Kansas. Anna and Shubal had three children together: 1) Taylor Colfax Way, born Jul 24, 1869; 2) John Pickett Way, born Oct 26, 1871; and 3) Hubert Tunis Way, born Feb 10, 1877. The first two were born near Emporia, Lyon County, Kansas, while Hubert was born in Morris County, Kansas. News from the "Daily Guard," 17 Feb 1916 "Mrs. Simmira [sic] Way died at the home of her son H. T. Way, on Four Mile, Tuesday evening, Feb. 15. Funeral arrangements cannot be made until word is received from her sons and daughters who live in other states." Obituary for Annie S. Way from the "Daily Guard," 25 Feb 1916 Annie S. Way "Annie Semira Pickett was born in Chatam [sic] county, North Carolina, Nov. 24, 1836. Here she grew to womanhood, and was married Nov. 11, 1857, to James O. Way. The following spring they, with her father, mother, two brothers and a sister migrated to Kansas, in a covered wagon, and settled in Emporia. To this union four children were born, Cora, Florence, Grant and Mollie, all of whom are living excepting Florence. She [Annie] was left a widow in 1866. Two years later she was married to Shubal J. Way. Three children were born to this union, Taylor, John and Tunis. John preceded his mother to the better land just seven years [ago], he passing away Feb. 15, 1909, and she departing this life Feb 15, 1916. "In 1875 they left Emporia and came to Morris county, settling on Four Mile, where she as since made her home. In 1900 she was again left a widow, and has since made her home with her son Tunis. At the time of her death she was 79 years of age. She leaves to mourn her loss, one brother, three sons, two daughters and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services were held from the home in charge of Rev. J.A. Davies, and the remains were laid to rest in Four Mile Cemetery." On 30 Aug 1979, Claude F. Piggott wrote a letter to his cousin, Leona "Bobbie" Doby. The following was on a handwritten, additional page: "Isaiah Piggot was 1st to call it Pickett [the surname, Piggott]. Left North Carolina. "Four of Isaiah's younger children came with him to Kansas (from North Carolina) in 1858. These 4 children were: "...4) Annie Semira Pickett our Great Grandmother. she was born November 24, 1836 Died - February 16, 1916 "Her first husband James O'Keley [sic] Way He was born - May 22, 1883 He died - August 2, 1866 "Her second husband Shubal J. F. Way He was born - July 22, 1836 He died - March 6, 1900 "These two were brothers." According to a letter sent to Violet Page World from her cousin, Leona Doby, ca. 1979: "...Annie and Shubal resided southwest of Emporia on to Four Mile Creek - near Council Grove, Kansas 1875. "Note: When [Annie S. Pickett Way] - with her husband, [James O. Way]] her parents, and her brothers and sisters moved west to Kansas in 1858 - one brother Wiley Pickett remained in North Carolina. Wiley Pickett fought with the Confederacy in the Civil War." "Annie's other brothers and sister known to go to Kansas were: "Alson Pickett who married Martha Cooper for his second wife... "John Christie Pickett... "Sabrah Pickett married: Riley Way who was a brother to James O'Kelly Way & Shubal Way..." "All this information has come from records in north Carolina, Kansas, and from Uncle Tune's Bible [not complete, but does go back several generations]. [NOTE: "Uncle Tune" is most likely Hubert Tunis Way.] "Uncle tune has spelled James O'Kelly Way as James Okeley Way, in the Bible."
