Had she lived until February 4, she would have reached her 100th birthday. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Fellmet Funeral home in Keystone. Mrs. Bata had been in failing health during the past several months, due to complications of old age. Surviving her are a daughter, Rose, and two sons, Louis and Charles, who lived with Mrs. Bata, and another son, Joe Bata, of Clutier. There are also three grandchildren, Leland Bata of Des Moines, LeRoy Bata of Atkins, and Mrs. Ronnie (Janis) Rayman of Cedar Rapids. There is only one great grandchild, Timothy Bata, of Des Moines. Mrs. Bata was born in Czechoslovakia, her maiden name being Anna Simek. Her father's name was Joseph and her mother's name was Anna Stosa Simek. She was born February 4, 1859, in Czechoslovakia and came to the United States in 1881. She was united in marriage on July 30, 1887, to Alois Bata. The couple first made their home in Nebraska before coming to Iowa. Three brothers, James, Joseph, and Albin Simek preceded her in death, also two sisters, Mary Simek and Emma Marson. Survivors also include a nephew, Edward Maxson of Wadena, Minnesota, and a niece, Alice, Mrs. Charles Witosky, of Tama. Interment will be in National Cemetery, near Vining. Pall bearers will be Lester Chrudimsky, Frank Hadacek; Frank Hayek, Vince Kuzela, James Seda, Sr., and Frank Dalecky. Caring for flowers will be Mrs. James Seda, Sr., and Mrs. Hadacek.
