Death came as peacefully to her as does slumber to a tired child. While her death was sudden it was not unexpected. About two months ago she became the victim of a (complication?) of diseases, which to one younger might have meant something other than the inevitable. Previous to this time she had always enjoyed unusually good health. Several weeks ago physicians in consultation decided that her demise was only a matter of a few weeks, and her son, Phillip Henry Gohn, who was then in California, was telegraphed, and hastened to his mother's bedside, where he has since been in constant attendance. Besides her husband she leaves a family of four children, Mrs. Bert Rew, George E., Phillip Henry and Anna May. A brother and sister reside in Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Gohn had resided in Virginia City since 1864. Her maiden name was Anna Zweifel, and she was born at Zurich, Switzerland, February 19, 1842. She came to the United States with her parents in 1853, went to Kansas in 1859 and to Colorado in 1860, where she met and the following year was united in marriage to Mr. George Gohn. Mr. Gohn came to Montana in 1863, and the following year brought his wife to Virginia. Mrs. Gohn was a member of the Lutheran church, of the Society of Pioneers of Montana, and of the Virginia Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was the first Worthy Matron elected by the latter organization. She was a most devoted mother to her family, a kind and affectionate helpmate to her husband, and loyal to her friends, who are numbered among the best and oldest families in the state. She was a kind, cordial lady and her death will be mourned by a large circle of friends. To the bereaved family the Madisonian extends sincere sympathy. Contributor: RunninonMT (49509864)
