French and Miss Anna M. Gohn Special Correspondence of the Standard. Virginia City, Nov. 18.- At the St. James hotel in Salt Lake City last Wednesday evening, November 15, at 6 o'clock, occurred the marriage of two former residents of Virginia, Miss Anna May Gohn and Ira H. French, according to the rites of St. Paul's Episcopal church, Rev. Scott officiating. The ceremony was witnessed by a few relatives and particular friends of the bride and groom and the occasion will linger long in the minds of those who had the pleasure of being present at the wedding. The bride was gowned in a beautiful rich white duchesse satin, en train, with pearl ornaments and point lace. In her hand she carried a pretty bouquet of bride's roses. She was given away by her father, George Gohn, who has been spending several weeks in that city. Miss Janet L. Davis of this place was bridesmaid. The groom and best man "were attired in conventional black. The contracting parties are well known and very popular in this city, where they have resided since childhood. They are both natives of the Social city and have lived here continuously save a few years spent at school in the East. Miss Gohn, the bride, is a most estimable and accomplished young lady. She is the daughter of George Gohn, one of Virginia's most enterprising business men and proprietor of the Metropolitan meat market. The groom is the youngest son of O. D. French of the grocery firm of O. D. French & Co., one of the oldest and best known establishments of this place. He is very popular among his associates and friends and an enterprising young business man of Mercur, Utah. For several years he was mployed as salesman in the gents' furnishing and clothing establishment of Jacob Albright. At the last election in this county he was the democratic nominee for clerk and recorder, but was defeated by a small margin by H. E. Steffens, the silver republican candidate. Early last spring he left with Harry Gohn, brother of the bride, for Mercur, and engaged in the clothing business, to which place the happy couple will return after a visit of several weeks at Salt Lake, and make their home. Their many friends in Madison county will regret to learn that they expect to make their permanent residence in other sections, but they all unite in extending congratulations and best wishes for their future welfare and happiness. _________________________________________________ Per the 1900 U.S. Census, Anna and Ira French resided in Mercur City, Tooele County, Utah.
