An emergency operation, in an endeavor to save her life, was performed during the day, but she grew steadily weaker until the end came that night. Mrs. Daugherty, the widow of the late Andrew Jackson Daugherty, was seventy years of age and was a native of Pennsylvania where she was born and reared. About thirty-three years ago she moved to this county where she had since made her home. She possessed many wonderful traits of character and was greatly loved by a wide circle of friends. She was a sweet, kindly, motherly type of woman who was respected and held in high esteem by all who knew her. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Annie Sterling, of Lawsonia, and the Misses Margaret and Irene Daugherty, of this county, and three sons, A. J. Daugherty, of Salisbury and John L. Daugherty and Edwin Daugherty, of near Kingston. Eight grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren, also survive. Funeral services were held from the Rehoboth Presbyterian Church with the pastor, Rev. Herman Bischoff officiating, on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment was beside the body of her husband in the Rehoboth cemetery. The Crisfield Times, July 7, 1939 pg.3
