She was united in marriage with Isaac Landess January 18, 1852. To this union was given six children, five girls and one boy. The children all survive her except Ruth, the youngest, who only preceded her a few days and whose premature death caused her mother to worry so as, no doubt, to hasten her own demise. Only last Sunday night she insisted that Ruth came to her bed, and she so much longed to go with her. She was often heard to say, "Open the gate." As the end drew visably near she said: "The gate is almost open." She had a deep desire to return to the old home and mingle with her old-time friends again. She wanted to see and be with the friends and associates of by-gone days, and xpressed a determination to do so, but fate has decreed otherwise. As the end drew near she spoke of all her family. She said she wanted to see Henry; she wanted to send a message to her boy. When the attendants inquired what she wanted to say to him she said : 'Tell him all is well and to come to me." What a glorious message to be carried to that son in his far-away home. She closed her eyes upon earthly scenes at peace with the world. The victory is hers. At an early age she united with the Church of Christ under the labors of Peter Horn, and honored that profession with a life devoted to the cause she loved. Having "washed her robes in the blood of the lamb and came out of great tribulation" she has joined the happy throng of the redeemed and will dwell in the presence of the infinite fovever more. Funeral services were conducted by the writer, at Pricetown, in the presence of a vast throng of sympathizing friends, after which her body was laid to rest in the Barker cemetery to await the call that shall immortalie and fashion it after his own glorious body.
