Sanderson was born September 8th, 1868, departed this life February 15th, 1904, aged 35 years, 5 months and 7 days. Thus ends another brief but beautiful life. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Sanderson December 2, 1903. With whom she lived happily until death severed the union. She was a devoted and affectionate companion. She united with the church at Pricetown in 1886, and remained loyal to the faith until death. She is now in possession of the Christian's reward. Those who had the pleasure of being with and ministering to her in her closing hours have remarked the patience and Christian fortitude as well as the bravery with which she approached the hour of dissolution. Her lips were seen to move in prayer to the very end. Her devotion to her invalid mother, with whom she spent go many hours in trying to cheer and aid her in whiling away the time, was something beautiful. Yet all this devotion did not hinder the desire to depart and be with Jesus. When her mother asked, "Why Ruth, you would not want to leave me," she said, "Yes, mother, if I could be in heaven." What a comfort to that poor heart-broken mother as well as to all the friends to know that when the final summons came and Ruth was to bid farewell to earthly friends and scenes, with malice in her heart toward none, with love for all mankind, she just pillowed her head on the bosom of the Savior and breathed out her life sweetly there. In her closing hours she remembered the old home church and expressed a desire to be with the brethren, again in one of the old-time meetings, She has gone to have part in that great gathering where these sad farewells are not known. For the last several years she had been a patient sufferer, from a dread disease. When the hour of necessity arrived she patiently and willingly submitted, to the surgical operation, but the ravage of disease had made such inroads that the system was unable to stand the shock. But patience has gained its reward. She was of that number of whom it can be truthfully said, " For me to die is gain" and "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." The funeral services were conducted by Elder Frank Foust, at Pricetown, in the presence of a large concourse of sympathizing friends, after which her body was laid to rest in the Barker cemetery to wait the call that shall immortalize and fashion after his own glorious body.
