Description	:	Mrs Annie J Best, 85, former resident of Sutter County and mother of Mrs Emmett Gibson, Sutter County Superintendent of schools, died yesterday in Sacramento. Services will be conducted by the Rainbow Chapter of Easter Star on Wednesday at 10 a m at the Andrews and Grelichi Mission Chapel, Sacramento with the Rev. R. Tarr, officiating. Born in Sutter County on April 20, 1872, Mrs. Best was a descendant of a pioneer family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gray, who emigrated to America from Ireland in the late 1860's. Mrs. Best was baptized in the Grace Methodist Church of Sutter County, and her parents were charter members of that church. She received her elementary schooling in the old Central and Gaither Schools. In 1894 she was married to William H. Best, a descendant of another pioneer family. There were three children, Mrs. (Bernice) Gibson of Yuba City, Mrs. George Pullen (Adah) of Sacramento and Melvin, who died in infancy. Best died on July 11, 1949. Mrs. Best had been a resident of Sacramento since 1912, when the family moved from Sutter County. In 1923 she became a member of the Order of Eastern Star and continued to be an active member her entire life, also serving as past president of the Copa d Ora Society, a branch of the order of Eastern Star. She took an acttive part in the Women's Society of the Methodist Church. Other survivors, besides her two daughters, are two grandsons, Gordon G. and Gerald N.
