Annie Magdalen (Connot) Fish was born April 15, 1926, at Baker, Boyd County, Nebraska, to John and Marie (Roeder) Connot. She was the fourth child of eight children. Annie Magdalen (Connot) Fish was born April 15, 1926, at Baker, Boyd County, Nebraska, to John and Marie (Roeder) Connot. She was the fourth child of eight children. Annie attended rural school and graduated many years later earning her GED at Spencer High School in 1978. Annie met Henry "Hank" Fish of Fort Randall, South Dakota at dances in the early 1940's. They were engaged on February 14, 1946, and married on July 31, 1946, at St. Joseph's Parish at Baker, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Larry, Carol, and Barbara. They lived on their farm near Gross, Nebraska for 65 years. Annie and Hank were both born and raised on a farm and their lives never changed as their full life together of many years was enjoyed farming. They retired and moved to Spencer, Nebraska in 2011. They loved to dance, enjoyed playing cards, and golfing. Annie was a parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spencer, a member of the Altar Society, and volunteered for the funeral committee. She was a long-standing member of the Gross Women's Club at Gross, Nebraska, and also sat on the election board there. Farming and taking care of her family and home were her passion, along with canning, raising her chickens, gardening, and milking cows. She also had several hundred laying hens to sell hybrid Dekalb hatching eggs to the Nase Hatchery at Armour, South Dakota for several years. Amongst all of that happy work that took a lot of her time, she always devoted plenty of her time to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren playing with them, teaching them, and helping them prepare for their activities and attending their events. Annie is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Tim) Benson of Columbus, Nebraska and Barbara (Mark) Myers of O'Neill, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Scott (Tara) Benson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Deanna (Barry) Simpson of Lincoln, Jarrod (Samantha) Hamik of Atkinson, Nebraska, and Derek (Alyssa) Hamik of Panama, Iowa; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Blake, and Chase Benson, Ava, Elena, and Hannah Simpson; Harleigh and Felicity Hamik, and baby boy Hamik due in June 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Hank in 2018; her son Larry in 1968; parents, John and Marie Connot; all of her brothers and sisters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Spencer.
