Hank died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Butte Healthcare in Butte, Nebraska. Henry Andrew Fish was born April 4, 1925, at Burke, South Dakota, to George and Henrietta (Fredrickson) Fish. Henry was two years old when his mother died during childbirth. Two years later his father died, leaving four small children, Henry being the youngest. The children were brought to Fort Randall, South Dakota and Gross, Nebraska to live with their grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Henry’s home was with his Aunt Anna and her husband, John Cassidy. They raised him and he attended rural school in Fort Randall. Henry met Annie Connot at dances. They were married on July 31, 1946, at Baker, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, Larry, Carol, and Barbara. They lived on their farm near Gross, Nebraska for 65 years. Their lifestyle never changed as the both were born and raised on a farm. Henry and Annie retired in 2011, and they moved to Spencer, Nebraska. They loved to dance, enjoyed playing cards, and golfing. Henry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spencer. He was on the local country school board where his children attended. He was a member of the Bristow-Gross Lions Club. Henry filled a Boyd County Commissioners vacancy and served on the rural fire board for many years. He made farming and horses his passion along with his John Deere tractors and cattle. Henry loved spending time taking his grandchildren for Farmhand tractor rides to watch the farmhand work feeding the cattle. Henry is survived by his wife of 72 years, Annie Fish of Spencer, Nebraska; two daughters, Carol (Tim) Benson of Columbus, Nebraska and Barbara (Mark) Myers of O’Neill, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Scott (Tara) Benson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Deanna (Barry) Simpson of Lincoln, Nebraska, Jarrod (Samantha) Hamik of Atkinson, Nebraska, and Derek Hamik of Panama, Iowa; and seven great-grandchildren; Alexandra, Blake, and Chase Benson, Ava, Elena, and Hannah Simpson, and Harleigh Hamik. He was preceded in death by his son Larry in 1968, at the age of 20 years; his parents, George and Henrietta Fish; Aunt Anna and John Cassidy; brother and sisters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
