Eilers ========================= Obituary: Mrs. Margaret Eilers (nee Ackermann), was born on Feb. 27, 1850, at Firrel in North Germany, (Oestfriesland). When 6 years old, she emigrated to the United States with her parents and lived at St. Louis, Illinois, and in Adams Co., Illinois. In Adams County, Illinois, she was married to her first husband, Gehde H. Agena, in 1869. Ten children were born to them of whom 5 survived her, 2 sons and 3 daughters, Mrs. Tina Dorn in the Bear Creek Community, Mrs. Franke Frerichs of Beatrice and Mrs. Elizabeth Harms, of Sterling, Colorado. In 1884, by the death of her husband on Christmas day, she became a widow. She moved to Nebraska from Illinois and had lived about 12 years in the Bear Creek Community and later in this community. In 1899, she was married to W. J. Eilers, who survives her. Mrs. Eilers began to fail several years ago, but very few of her friends knew that her condition had become critical and all were shocked when they heard of her death last Tuesday, April 4th. She, however, had realized her condition and as a christian had commended her soul to God. On Thursday her body was laid to rest in Immanuel Cemetery. Rev. Schaller from Firth preached the funeral sermon to a large audience. His text was John 11.14-15. The following relatives of Mrs. Eilers attended the funeral; John Ackerman, Bear Creek, Albert Ackerman, Crab Orchard; Leonhard Ackerman; Lakefield, Minn. Harm Ackerman, Mrs. Nancy Schlueter and Miss Emma Hemken all of Flanagan, Illinois. Mrs. Eilers attained an age of 72 years, 1 month and 7 days. She left to mourn her loss besides her husband and children, 21 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Source: Sterling Sun, April 13, 1922
