Soon after his arrival there he took up arms with the southern army and was in the service about three years. Read More	Humboldt Union February 17, 1921 pg. 1 Anton Gloeckner was born in Germany August 3, 1834. After learning the tailoring trade he came to America, landing in Galveston, Texas. Soon after his arrival there he took up arms with the southern army and was in the service about three years. He then went to Pennsylvania, finally settling at Siegfrieds, where he again went to work at the tailoring business. In April, 1865, he was united in marriage with Eliza Roth and to their union five children were born, all of whom are living. They are Louis and Francis of St. Louis; Emma, who is Mrs. Herman Kemmerer of Iola; Katie, now Mrs. Wm. Kemmerer of this city; and Caroline, who is Mrs. Hettinger of Boise, Idaho. In June, 1879, the mother, Mrs. Eliza Gloeckner, passed away, the youngest child, Caroline, then being but two years of age. In May, 1880, Mr. Gloeckner was married to Mary E. Danial, who survives him. To this union one child was born but is deceased. He moved with his family to Humboldt in March, 1883, and has since resided here. Upon coming here he began his tailoring work and continued in the business until his last illness which began January 14, 1921, and which terminated in his death at 8 o'clock Thursday morning, February 10th, 1921. Mr. Gloeckner's age was 86 years, 6 months and 7 days. He is survived by his wife, five children, ten grandchildren and.one great grandchild. Mr. Gloeckner made many friends in the Humboldt community during his long residence and business associations here who deeply regret his going from among them. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Sowerby of the Prebyterian church at the home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 13th, members of the G. A. R. attending in a body. The remains were laid at rest in Mount Hope cemetery.
