When he was four years of age his family moved by covered wagon to Howard County, Nebraska, settling on the outskirts of St. Paul. After a brief time the family moved to a farm near Cushing. Read More	From The Wolbach Messenger, January 19, 1961, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Anton Paul Rochek was born to Joseph and Marie Rochek near Marysburg, Minnesota, on April 14, 1874. When he was four years of age his family moved by covered wagon to Howard County, Nebraska, settling on the outskirts of St. Paul. After a brief time the family moved to a farm near Cushing. Three years later they moved again to a homestead in the northeast portion of Howard County. On this homestead Mr. Rochek grew to manhood, and lived his married life until retirement in 1941, at which time he moved to Omaha where he made his home with his daughter. On May 10, 1905 he was united in marriage to Josie Vopat at St. Paul Nebraska. To this union were born one daughter, Mrs. Marie Slaughter of Omaha, Nebraska, and three sons, Carl of Alda, Nebraska, Tony of Izmir, Turkey and Rudy of Myrtle Point, Oregon. In addition to these Mr. Rochek is survived by his wife, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Rocheck passed from this life at home on January 8, 1961 following a stroke. He was 86 years, nine months and six days of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and six brothers. He had been baptized as an infant in the town in which he was born, and attended church services in Wolbach when living in its vicinity. He also served on the school board of district 44 in Howard County for many years, both as a board member and treasurer.
