Anton Svitak, resident of David City for a number of years, passed away at his home in West David City Sunday night, Nov. 22, after illness of five weeks. He was 70 years and 4 months of age. Funeral services were held at the Patterson & Knott funeral home at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning. The pallbearers were W. H. Craft, Jerry Divisek, Frank Houska, Percy Johnson and Joe and Frank Vanek. Burial was in the David City Catholic cemetery. Anton Svitek was born in July, 1866, in Czechoslovakia. He was a railroad laborer for 30 years. He was married May 30, 1913, to Anna Dobry who survives him. He is also survived by three sons and four daughters, Charles and Dollie Svitak and Mrs. Emma Mathieu of Columbus, Mrs. Everett McCracken of David City, Mrs. Marie Roubal of Ulysses and Jerry and Jennie Svitak at home. There are seven grandchildren. A small daughter, Rose, died eight years ago and the oldest son, Tony, died about three years ago. Mr. Svitak was a member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge.
