Mr. Welding died Saturday, May 2, 1992, at Arbor Manor, Fremont. He was born Feb. 21, 1904, at West Point to Conrad and Bertha (Fischer) Welding. He grew up and farmed near West Point until starting work at Nebraska Ordnance Plant at Mead in the early 1950s. He moved to Fremont in 1954 and became a residential contractor, building home in Fremont. He married Clara Keller in 1931. She died in 1936. He married Gertrude Wortman in 1940. She died in 1949. He married Ellen Seeman on Feb. 8, 1955, at West Point. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Fremont; a former member of many years of the Fremont Fraternal Order of Eagles. Survivors include his wife, Ellen; stepsons, Ray and Fred Wortman, both of West Point; stepdaughters Mrs. Geraldine (Jack) Oeser, West Side, Iowa, Mrs. Jane (Joe) Gibney and Joan Stark both of Fremont; 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first two wives, brothers John, Joe, Bill and Bernard Welding; a sister, Ellen Taylor, and a stepdaughter, Delores McGill.
