Description	:	Anton Wegert was born in Kupprickhausen, Germany, to Michael Anton and Fredericka (Killan) Wegert who lived out their lives and died in Kupprickhausen. Anton had five brothers and three sisters who also lived out their lives in Germany. In 1894, at the age of 18, Anton immigrated to the United States and received his citizenship January 12, 1901. Anton had five brothers and three sisters who also lived out their lives in Germany. In 1894, at the age of 18, Anton immigrated to the United States and received his citizenship January 12, 1901. On September 26, 1900, Anton married Dina L'heureux at the home of her parents. Three daughters were born in this marriage, Isabel Agnes in 1901, Margaret in 1903 and Aline in 1905. Anton farmed in the Rice community and in 1911 purchased his father-in-law's property. In February of 1933, their two story home burned to the ground, very little was saved. A three bedroom home was built on the same location, but a few years later during a flood, the Republican River took that home. Again they salvaged what they could and rebuilt their home. The Wegert girls were all educated and taught school. Isabel married a local farm boy, Ernest Lagasse, in 1924. Margaret and Aline taught in Kansas for many years but ultimately lived and taught most of the lives in New Mexico. Anton and Dina continued to live in Rice until his death at the age of 83 on New Year's Eve 1958. He was retired from active farming at that time but was a land owner and interested in farming until his death. Anton is buried in the Rice Cemetery.
