Mrs. Jacob Glor was born in Stratton, Vermont August 9, 1852 and passed away in her home near this city, Feb 19, 1920, age 67 years. The immediate cause of her death was asthma. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, a mother and two sisters who are Mrs. John Williams, Mrs. V.J. Auten and Mrs. Della Fleming, all of Ashland, a brother, J.S. Williams of Muscotah, Kans., an uncle, Rev. N.Newton Glazier formerly of this city but now of Ashland, Neb., Anna Glor and Mrs. Belle Wagner of York, both closely connected to the family. The deceased came with her parents to Linn county, Ia. in the year 1857. In 1872, the family came to Nebraska settling on a homestead in Saunders county. She was married to Jacob Glor March 29, 1900 at Rescue, Neb. and subsequently came to Beatrice locating on a farm north of the city, where she was living at the time of her departure. Mrs. Glor taught school for a number of years and being ardently religious, she preached between times. She attended the state university at Lincoln for some time and afterward took up theological studies at the Otterbein Theological seminary in Dayton, Ohio. She did prison work while there. She was converted at the age of eleven and was in her early life ordained to preach the gospel. She was the first ordained woman preacher in Nebraska and was also the first woman to dedicate a church in the state. Because of ill health after some years of strenuous labor in the ministry, she was forced to retire. All through these years she was a member of the United Brethern church but on July 10, 1916, she became a charter member of the Nazarene in which she served faithfully until the time of her death. Much of the success of this church is due to her untiring efforts, being a pillar among its membership. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 Feb 22, 1920, from the Church of the Nazarene by Rev. C.E. Ryder. Interment in the Evergreen Home cemetery. Beatrice, Ne Daily Sun Feb 25, 1920
