James was also a Civil War Soldier enlisting from Holderness and receiving pension from service. According to birth record of children Arabella was born in Lowell, Massachusetts not Holderness NH. In the 1880 census Arabel S. Baker was 42 and husband James S. was 48, she born in Massachusetts, parents born NH, and James was born in NH. His mother Sarah M. Baker age 85 born NH was residing with them and children in the household Mabel S. was 12 and Theron B. was 7 both born Massachusetts. At that time James was a farmer and had rheumatism. James died April 1, 1890 in Ashland of brain paralysis. His death record says widowed (sic). Death record, Arabell Baker, died Ashland Sept 23, 1891, age 43 yrs and 25 days, widow, died of cerebral apoplexy, burial Ashland NH. Parents Arad Simonds and Sophronia Drew born in Alexandria and Holderness NH. I am attaching the parents.
