Description	:	On March 9, 2021, I received an edit request from findagrave member Bodo Röver to link Arabelle to Riley Gooler Lawson as her father. Arabelle is not named as a surviving daughter in Riley's obituary, which has been posted on his memorial, nor was she listed as a surviving daughter in an obituary that was posted for Riley Lawson in the “Ottumwa Daily Courier,” of March 24, 1947. Arabelle is not named as a surviving daughter in Riley's obituary, which has been posted on his memorial, nor was she listed as a surviving daughter in an obituary that was posted for Riley Lawson in the “Ottumwa Daily Courier,” of March 24, 1947. However, I researched this family again, and I believe that he was her father. I accepted this edit request on March 13, 2021. Arabelle (sometimes called Arabella in the records) was first married to Walter R. McNulty on December 24, 1908, in Wapello County. They had two known children, Sylvia and Melvin. Arabelle McNulty married John Wood on December 14, 1916, in Wapello County. In the 1925 Census for Keokuk, Iowa, a son Frank Wood, age 2, with living with Arabella Wood and her stepfather and mother, Frank and Olive Grimes. Donald Wood, age 12, with living with Arabelle and her husband Harvey Post in the 1930 Census for Ottumwa, Iowa. I have not been able to find any more on the son Frank Wood or Donald Wood in the census records. Arabella Wood married Frank W. Davis, who was born 1885 in Wales, on November 25, 1922, in Ottumwa. Arabella Davis married Harvey Post on December 4, 1923, in Ottumwa. Arabelle Post married Benjamin A. Cotes on July 29, 1935, in Clinton, Iowa. On their marriage record, Benjamin's place of residence was given as Rock Island, Illinois, and Arabelle's place of residence was given as Davenport, Iowa. Benjamin and Arabelle were listed in the 1937 City Directory for Peoria, Illinois. On January 26, 2017, I was contacted by a Cotes' family researcher who told me that he believed Arabelle's son Donald was buried under the last name of Cotes. I searched in ancestry.com and found an obituary for Donald F. Cotes in one of the family trees that named his parents as Benjamin and Arabelle Lawson Cotes. I requested that Donald F. Cotes be linked to Arabelle as her son, and on January 31, 2017, my edit request was accepted. By 1940, an Arabelle Post, divorced, was living in Rock Island, Illinois. I believe it was this same Arabelle, but I am not certain. According to her obituary, she was married to Allen Caldwell when she died. There is a marriage record in ancestry.com for Arabelle Post to John W. Caddell February 13, 1942, in Hardin, Montana. The place of birth for that Arabelle is Troy, Iowa, and her parents are listed as Riley and Mae (Cox) Lawson. It appears to be this same Arabelle; however, I have no way of knowing if that John’s name was in fact Caldwell, or whether he is the same man as the Allen Caldwell in her obituary. --------------------------------------- Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” February 21, 1977: Arabelle Caldwell, 84, of Morton, Ill., died Sunday at 3:43 p.m. in a Pekin, Ill., hospital. She was born Oct. 18, 1892, in Davis County to Riley and Olive May Cox Lawson. She had lived in Morton, Ill. For the last six years. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She married Allen Caldwell. He died in 1964. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Henson of Mackinaw, Ill. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 11:00 a.m.
