She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Pitt County, daughter of the late Walter L. and Lula Boyd Smith. Odell was a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She was a retired floral designer with Belk Tyler Co. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She also loved her church and family. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Tripp; her son, Jackie G. Tripp and wife, Carol, of Statesboro, Ga.; her sisters, Ida Mae Sutton and Jannie Hudson, both of Greenville, and Anne Barnes of Rocky Mount. The family received friends Sunday, July 28, 2002, from 7-9 p.m. at Bowling Funeral Home. Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Pinewood Memorial Cemetery, Greenville, with the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He was a family man dedicated to his wife and son and took care of his wife during her years of declining health. He was preceded in death by his wife Odell Smith Tripp, two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are his son, Jackie G. Tripp of Rocky Mount; sisers, Louise Branch of Winterville, NC and Velma Boone of Portsmouth, VA. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011 followed by a funeral service at 1:30 pm at Wheeler Woodlief Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 3:30 pm at Pinewood Memorial Park in Greenville, NC. Arrangements entrusted to Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, 1130 N. Winstead Avenue, Rocky Mount NC. * * * *
