Read More	SHELMERDINE - Mrs. Ida Mae Smith Sutton, 93, passed through Heaven's Gate to join her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008. The funeral service and celebration of her life will be conducted Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel by the Rev. L. Grady Tucker, Mrs. Sutton's former pastor and longtime family friend. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park. Mrs. Sutton, daughter of the late Lula and Walter Smith, Sr., was a native of Pitt County and a lifelong resident of the Chicod-Shelmerdine community. She attended a local two-room school and later transferred to Chicod School. She married Amos Sutton in 1933 and they had two daughters. The couple farmed together until their retirement. Until the time of her death, Mrs. Sutton was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. She dearly loved her church and was a very dedicated member serving in various capacities which included singing in the choir, serving as a Convention delegate, assisting with Bible School, being a member of the Woman's Auxiliary, holding various offices in her Sunday School class, and assisting with the prayer meeting Bible study messages. Mrs. Sutton, lovingly known as "Mae Mae" to many of her family and friends, was also a longtime member of the Woodmen of the World, Shelmerdine Lodge No. 567. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Amos Sutton; her oldest daughter, Betty Sutton Warren; three brothers, Josh Smith, Walter Smith, Jr., and Thedie Smith; and five sisters, Ladigole Adams, Odell Tripp, Lucy Chandler, Lorena Shea, and Mamie King. Surviving are her daughter, Brenda S. Van Derven and husband Mike of Greenville; son-in-law, T. G. Warren of Stokes; two sisters, Janie Hudson of Mebane and Annie Nett of Rocky Mount; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sutton was so loved by her family, neighbors and friends. She was such a blessing to everyone she met, both young and old alike. She always had a sweet smile on her face and a kind word from her heart. Somehow, she always seemed to find the good in everyone. Her life was a wonderful example of true Christianity and she truly put God first in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Mrs. Sutton will also be remembered for the beautiful afghans and baby blankets which she crocheted. She enjoyed this hobby even into her later years. She took pride in crocheting and donating afghans for the church auction each year. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home tonight from 6Ð8 p.m. and at other times at the home of Brenda and Mike Van Derven. "T.G." Warren Mr. Theodore G. "T.G." Warren, 78, died Monday, March 22, 2010. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Pinewood Memorial Park. T.G. was born on Oct. 25, 1931, to the late Hubert O. and Fannie Bett Bullock Warren in Pitt County. He was a lifelong resident of the Stokes community, and spent his life farming there until recent years. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. T.G. was a true gentleman, and was well-loved and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty Sutton Warren. T.G. is survived by his sisters and brothers, Eula Mae Warren Milke, of Prince Frederick, Md., Susie Warren Alexander, of Greenville, Frances Madalin Warren Ventre, of Avenue, Md., H. Clinton Warren, of Avenue, Md., Doris Warren Genaro, of Olney, Md., Betty Lou Warren Bergmann, of Rockville, Md., and Ronald "Ron" Gene Warren, of Rocky Mount; sister in-law, Brenda and husband, Mike Van Derven, of Greenville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
