Gift Bearers will be Keri Bauer, Steph Bauer, and Nora Bauer. Eucharistic Ministers will be Tim Bauer and Bonnie Pickhinke. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Ardis’ Card Club: Harry and Mary Kay Uhlenkamp, Merle and Mary Lou Kraus, Lyle and Lorraine Vonnahme, Kenneth Nees, and Joan Danzer. Casket Bearers will be Tim Bauer, Brian Bauer, Leon Bauer, Glenn Langel, Dave Wurzer, and Gene Brincks. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 4 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Born on September 24, 1927, near Breda, Iowa, Ardis was the daughter of Herman and Bernadine (Schulte) Bruning. She grew up on the family farm near Breda, and in 1946 Ardis graduated from St. Bernard’s High School. On May 24, 1955 Ardis was united in marriage to Norbert Bauer at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The couple made their home east of Willey for a short time before settling on their current family farm south of Willey. Ardis was a devoted homemaker, as well as helping with the grain and livestock farming operation. In 1990 the couple retired to the Carroll community. Ardis was a very talented cook, and baker; she was known for her homemade apple pies. She enjoyed canning, gardening, drinking Pepsi, helping on the farm, crocheting, bingo, watching the Chicago Cubs, and her card group. Most of all family was very important to Ardis; she enjoyed every moment with her children, and grandchildren. Ardis was a member of the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas, current member of St. Lawrence Parish, and former member of St. Mary’s Parish, and Ladies Guild in Willey. Survivors include her children: Linda Bauer of Willey, Dan Bauer of Willey, and Dave Bauer and his wife Lori of Willey; her grandchildren, Tim Bauer and his wife Steph of Willey, Brian Bauer and his wife Keri of Willey, and Nicole Bauer of Willey; 1 great-granddaughter Nora Bauer, with a second great-grandchild due this fall. Also surviving are her sisters: Florabell Brincks of Carroll, Ardis’ twin sister Inez Halbur of Breda, and Ivadella Langel and her husband Jerome of Templeton; brother-in-law, Leon Bauer of Willey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Ardis was preceded in death by her husband Norbert in 1992; her parents, siblings: Arlo Bruning, and Violet Bruning; and her in-laws: Robert Brincks, Norman Halbur, and Beatrice Bauer.
