Description	:	Ardith "Arky" Hohbach, 77, of rural Marcus, IA passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars, Iowa. Pastor William Schoonover will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Carlsen Funeral Home. Ardith Ann Oliver was born November 3, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of David G. and Ardith L. (Butcher) Oliver. She was raised in Onawa, Iowa and later in Whiting, Iowa. She graduated salutatorian of her class from Whiting High School in 1952. Following high school, Ardith went to work for a bank in Onawa for two years until enrolling in college at the University of South Dakota. She received a bachelor's degree in business administration and also attained her teaching certificate. She began teaching in Anita, Iowa and later in Holstein, Iowa. She returned to college at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she received her master's degree in business administration. She was united in marriage to Wilbur "Willie" Hohbach on March 17, 1962 in Onawa, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Marcus, Iowa. After their marriage, Ardith continued teaching in Cleghorn, Iowa and later in Cherokee, Iowa. She retired from teaching to be able to stay home and her raise her children. Through the years, Ardith enjoyed gardening, crafts, ceramics, and scrapbooking. She also loved her cats. When her sons were younger, she was Cub Scout Leader for their troop. Later on in life, Ardith was a volunteer teacher at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn school. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband of over 50 years, Willie of rural Marcus, IA; their four children: Oliver Hohbach (Jean) of Valley Springs, SD, Tom Hohbach (Peg) of Marcus, IA, Cyrus Hohbach of Yankton, SD, and Ardith Ruth Hohbach of Cedar Rapids, IA; 3 grandchildren: Eli Hohbach, Devan Hohbach, and Sophie Hohbach; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Donna Jean Barnes and her husband, Kenny; and a nephew: Bruce Barnes.
